The KY-023 is a dual-axis analog joystick module built around a PS2-style thumbstick. It gives proportional X and Y readings plus a push-button click, so it is a simple way to add smooth, game-controller style input to robot arms, RC cars, pan-tilt camera mounts and custom controllers.

Key features

  • Two 10K potentiometers give analog X and Y outputs, about 2.5V at center with a 5V supply
  • Built-in push button on the Z axis for a digital click
  • Spring-loaded lever returns to center when released
  • Runs on 3.3V to 5V DC
  • Header pins plug into Arduino sensor shields or breadboards without soldering

Specifications

  • Input voltage: 3.3V to 5V DC
  • Outputs: Analog X and Y, digital Z button
  • Joystick: PS2-style with 10K potentiometers
  • Size: 3.7 x 2.8 x 3.2cm (1.5 x 1.1 x 1.3 in)

In the box

  • 1 x KY-023 dual-axis joystick module

Works with

Arduino, Raspberry Pi, STM32 and other 3.3V or 5V microcontrollers. On an Arduino, wire X and Y to analog pins and the button to a digital pin. Raspberry Pi has no analog inputs, so use an ADC such as the MCP3008.
