The Adafruit INA219 breakout measures both high-side voltage and DC current draw over I2C, replacing the pair of multimeters you would otherwise need on the bench. Because it measures on the high side, your circuit's ground stays put, and the reported bus voltage is handy for tracking battery life or solar panels.

Key features

  • High-side current sensing up to +26 V DC while running from 3 V or 5 V
  • Measures up to ±3.2 A through the 0.1 ohm, 1% sense resistor
  • 0.8 mA resolution at the ±3.2 A range, or 0.1 mA at ±400 mA
  • Replace the sense resistor to change the range, for example 0.01 ohm for up to 32 A
  • Reports the high-side voltage as well as current

Specifications

  • Chip: TI INA219A or INA219B (same functionality)
  • Max voltage: 26 V DC
  • Current range: ±3.2 A with 0.1 ohm shunt
  • Accuracy: Within ±1% (A) or ±0.5% (B) over temperature
  • ADC: 12-bit
  • Interface: I2C

In the box

  • INA219 breakout
  • 6-pin header
